Course Overview
This intensive 6-week course provides a comprehensive, project-driven introduction to Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT), equipping students with practical skills to design, build, and deploy smart systems. Starting with foundational concepts like team collaboration, IR4.0 principles, and IoT basics, the curriculum progresses through Python programming, physical computing with microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino and Raspberry Pi), cloud computing using AWS, data analysis with tools like Pandas and Matplotlib, system testing, security practices (including ethical hacking simulations), augmented reality interfaces via Unity and Vuforia, voice integration with Alexa, and ethical/legal considerations in IoT. Hands-on projects, such as creating a smart safety helmet that detects falls and sends alerts, building a sensor-equipped smart city model for monitoring parking, waste, air quality, and more, and developing wearables like a weather-predicting raincoat, form the core of the learning experience. The course culminates in group projects, presentations and offers digital badges based on objectives like attendance, programming challenges, and team contributions. Emphasizing real-world applications, collaboration, and innovation, it prepares participants to address challenges in smart cities, industrial automation, and connected devices.
